Inflation is not one number. It is a structure.

The Inflation & Prices hub separates the headline rate from the mechanisms beneath it: services persistence, food and goods dynamics, energy shocks, cross-country dispersion, wage pressure and policy transmission. The objective is to understand what is driving inflation, how durable it may be and why that matters for rates, real incomes and portfolios.

Latest public module

The current inflation briefing.

The existing A-CLUSTER monthly inflation briefing is the first production module attached to this hub. The current public edition covers Eurostat's euro-area inflation flash estimate for August 2026 and presents the release as an analytical briefing rather than a raw data dump.

Euro areaPublic dashboard

Euro Area Monthly Inflation Monitor

The dashboard brings together headline and underlying inflation, major HICP components, services persistence, energy effects and cross-country structure. It is currently hosted in the legacy A-CLUSTER macro repository while the production version is standardized for the new domain.

Permanent framework

Six questions behind every inflation release.

The hub is structured around questions that remain relevant across releases. New monthly data should update these analytical tracks rather than generate a new disconnected page each time.

01

What is the headline direction?

Track the aggregate HICP rate, momentum and the difference between one-off effects and a broader shift in inflation pressure.

Live
02

What is persistent?

Separate underlying measures and services inflation from volatile energy and food components.

Building
03

Which components are doing the work?

Measure the contribution of services, food, goods and energy rather than relying only on the aggregate index.

Live
04

How broad is inflation?

Examine country dispersion and whether inflation pressure is concentrated or shared across the euro area.

Building
05

What is transmitting into prices?

Link energy, wages, administered prices and external shocks to the observed inflation structure.

Building
06

What does this change for policy?

Translate the inflation mix into a monetary-policy context without reducing the analysis to a single forecast.

Building
Transmission channels

From shocks to persistence.

Inflation analysis becomes more useful when the observed price change is linked to the mechanism behind it. These channels will become separate research modules as the platform expands.

01 / Energy

Oil, gas & electricity

Direct HICP effects, second-round transmission and differences between temporary base effects and sustained cost pressure.

02 / Labour

Wages & services

Compensation, productivity and unit labour costs as inputs into domestic and services inflation persistence.

03 / Policy

Administered prices

Taxes, regulated prices and policy-driven changes that can move inflation without reflecting market demand.

04 / External

Imported inflation

Commodity prices, exchange rates, supply chains and global price shocks affecting European inflation dynamics.

Access architecture

Build the free layer first. Preserve room for premium depth.

The public site should demonstrate the quality of the research without giving away every future analytical layer. The boundary below is a design target, not an active paywall today.

Public research

Free layer

  • Latest inflation snapshot and commentary
  • Main monthly inflation dashboard
  • Selected component and country views
  • Methodology and official-source documentation
Future subscription layer

Advanced analytics

  • Full country explorer and historical archive
  • Downloadable datasets and transformed series
  • Persistence, breadth and regime diagnostics
  • Cross-asset and policy-transmission analysis
Methodology & data

Official data, explicit transformations.

Production modules will document the indicator definition, frequency, seasonal treatment, transformations and interpretation. The preferred data layer is reproducible and based on primary official sources rather than secondary chart services.

Eurostat HICPPrimary euro-area and EU inflation source for headline, components and country comparisons.
ECB contextPolicy rates and monetary-policy context used to interpret inflation persistence and transmission.
Component logicHeadline is decomposed so the research distinguishes broad pressure from volatile or policy-driven effects.
Version disciplineEach published dashboard should identify its release vintage and avoid mixing later revisions into an older briefing.

The next step is not another card. It is the first full migration.

The strongest next move is to bring the Monthly Inflation Monitor itself under aclusterresearch.com, standardize its header and navigation, then make this hub the permanent entry point for every future inflation release. After that, we can add country dispersion and services-persistence modules without changing the architecture again.
